Debut of New Photo/Jewelry Collaboration with Mood Swing
If you are in downtown Raleigh, stop by The Collector's Gallery and view a new collaboration between Elizabeth Galecke Photography and Mood Swing Studio. The gallery is located on Fayetteville Street Mall right next to the skating rink.

Elizabeth Galecke inducted into YWCA Academy of Women
Elizabeth was inducted on Nov. 12 into the YWCA 2008 Academy of Women in the category of Art/Entertainment. The Academy of Women is an annual awards event created in 1983 by the YWCA of the Greater Triangle to recognize the achievements of 12 outstanding local women each year in the community. The YWCA Academy of Women selects and inducts women who demonstrate a commitment to the community and exemplify the YWCA mission of empowering women and eliminating racism. Elizabeth was featured in the Summer 2007 issue of this magazine for her role in starting Chix in Business. The magazine is on the shelves now, or you can see a copy on our Chix in Business website:

Lutheran Family Services
Elizabeth was hired this summer by Lutheran Family Services of the Carolinas. She traveled to North and South Carolina to document the different people that the organization helps. This ranges from foster children to refugees from Somalia and Burma. The photos are used excusively on their website to raise awareness as well as in their other media ranging from annual reports to their organization's letterhead. Chix in Business, Inc.
The women's business organization Elizabeth founded a few years ago has incorporated as a not-for-profit and Elizabeth has been elected President. Please check out the website that has been launched to support Triangle women-owned businesses or to find out how to become a member.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
Elizabeth's photographs of children with juvenile diabetes will be used in this years fundraiser, The third annual Promise Ball, to help raise money and awareness for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. She was asked to photograph 15 children, with their mothers, for this event as well as use in other publications. For more information on the event and the work of JDRF please visit

18 year old Anna Johnson, who battles cystic fibrosis, made a wish to become a christian recording artist and to use the money raised from the sales of her CD to help other children fulfill their wishes. Elizabeth was asked to take the photographs for the CD cover. The CD, titled "A Rose Is a Rose", is available for a $20 donation from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Elizabeth Photographs Kristi Yamaguchi
Elizabeth had the wonderful opportunity to photograph Olympic gold metal figure skater, Kristi Yamaguchi. The photo session captured Kristi and her 2 daughters in the whimsical setting of Kristi's oldest daughter's new bedroom, designed by Angela Krause of local children's furniture store Dilly Dally. When you park your car at the new North Hills Mall and Target you won't be able to forget where you are parked because of the huge black and white photos of children to lead your way. Kane Realty, the developers of North Hills Mall, wanted to use local photographer's images for this special project and chose Elizabeth's images. The smiling faces brighten the parking garage and help you find your way to the new wonderful shops, restaurants, and cinema and then back to your car again!

Triangle Business Journal's 40 under 40 Leadership Award
Elizabeth was chosen as one of 40 people in the triangle area to receive the Triangle Business Journal's 40 under 40 Leadership Award for 2004. This award honors the recipient's accomplishments in business as well as contributions to the community.

The latest edition of the beautiful baby magazine that covers preconception to age 6 is out and about in the Triangle! It covers everything from baby fashion to birthday party ideas, to child care. You will spot many of Elizabeth's photos throughout the magazine.
